Who is Sally Dige?

Bio

Sally Dige (pronounced “Dee-Ah”) is a Canadian independent solo artist based in Berlin, Germany. She writes, records, produces, and arranges all of her own music, and creates and manages every aspect of her visual work.

Her solo project began in Vancouver in 2012, when a friend invited her to write and record music for a poetry project. Within just a few hours in the studio, Dige had laid the foundation for the songs “Immaculate Deception” and “Doppelgänger.” When the project took an unexpected turn, her friend encouraged her to finish and release the tracks under her own name—and her solo journey began.

In 2013, Dige relocated to Berlin to fully pursue music and the creative arts. Over the years, her sound has evolved organically—from italo disco-inspired electro to darkwave to ethereal new romantic. Her current work blends folk and post-punk with echoes of her early gothic roots. This shift toward acoustic instrumentation came after the release of her previous album “Holding On” (2017), which was entirely composed on a single synthesizer she hauled between Copenhagen and Berlin by bus. “The natural form of self-rebellion,” she explains, “was to pick up instruments that didn’t need electricity to function and to play with strings and the hands again.”

Sally Dige’s new album “Holding the Sun”—released on her own label, Dige Records—is out now.
